September Peak Fact Sheet
The Asthma Society of Canada is pleased to launch the Preventing the September Asthma Peak campaign to educate children, their caregivers and teachers about the significant peak in the number of children requiring hospital treatment as a result of asthma attacks during the month of September.
Sara's Ready for school
Best Practices for Asthma Management in Schools is a document developed with the intention of educating parents, schools and students on the roles and responsibilities for ensuring asthma-friendly environments so our children can safely attend school. The included recommendations are to assist you in engaging in productive discussions with your child's school and encouraging all students to maximize their potential and experience rewarding educational, social, and health benefits.
Working in conjunction with an educational consultant, the Asthma Society of Canada created classroom materials for grades four to six, which dovetail with the Ontario curriculum. The classroom materials offer teachers information on asthma as well as on the September Asthma Peak and lesson plans to help educate students.
