A huge thanks to MPP @logankanapathi, who stood up A huge thanks to MPP @logankanapathi, who stood up in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario on World Asthma Day to speak on behalf of the millions of people in Canada living with asthma. MPP Kanapathi understands the challenges of asthma personally—his mother and grandmother both live with the condition. In his address, he expressed sincere gratitude to the healthcare workers who tirelessly support asthma patients, and he called for continued investment in clean air initiatives, research, and asthma education to ensure people with asthma can manage their condition with confidence and live symptom-free. hashtag#WorldAsthmaDay hashtag#AsthmaAwarenessMonth
On World Asthma Day, we released new findings from On World Asthma Day, we released new findings from our national survey, A Snapshot of Asthma in Canada, based on responses from over 1,400 individuals. The results highlight a concerning reality about perceived asthma control across the country: While half of people believed their asthma was controlled, our survey found:
🔹 81% said asthma had affected their ability to perform at work, school, or home
🔹 46% said they had missed work or school due to asthma
🔹 89% said they had experienced shortness of breath because of asthma
🔹 78% reported disrupted sleep due to asthma
🔹 72% said they had used their reliever inhaler two or more times per week — a major warning sign of uncontrolled asthma.
🔹 🔹 Alarmingly 1 in 5 (23%) use their reliever inhaler three or more times per day! Proper asthma control means living without symptoms and without relying on a reliever inhaler. These numbers make it clear: too many people in Canada are living with uncontrolled asthma without realizing it, putting their health at risk. This Asthma Awareness Month, we’re calling on the 4.6 million people living with asthma in Canada to A.C.T. on Asthma:
✅ A – Assess your asthma with our new Asthma Self-Check
✅ C – Claim your free Asthma Control Pack
✅ T – Talk to your doctor about managing your asthma effectively #AsthmaAwarenessMonth #ACTonAsthma
