If you or someone you care for lives with asthma and/or respiratory allergies, it is normal to have questions. Our HelpLine offers trusted information and reassurance on symptoms, triggers, medications, asthma attacks, and everyday management.

What is a Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE)?
A Certified Respiratory Educator is a healthcare professional with specialized training in asthma and respiratory care. CREs are nationally certified and provide education and support to help people better understand and manage their asthma. Learn more about Asthma Canada’s CREs.
Are there any costs to use the HelpLine?
No. The Asthma & Allergy HelpLine is a free service offered by Asthma Canada.
Can someone under 18 use the Asthma & Allergy HelpLine?
Yes. Children and teens can contact the HelpLine with questions about asthma. We encourage sharing information with a parent or caregiver and involving family members in follow-up conversations when possible. Parents and caregivers are also welcome to contact us on behalf of a child.
Will I speak to a Certified Respiratory Educator right away?
The HelpLine operates as a callback service, so you may not speak with a Certified Respiratory Educator immediately. We aim to respond to HelpLine calls and emails within 2-3 business days.
Can I contact the HelpLine about conditions other than asthma?
Can I use the HelpLine for asthma emergencies?
No. The Asthma & Allergy HelpLine is not for emergencies. If you or someone else is having an asthma attack or trouble breathing, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department right away.
