“As other countries face cuts to public health a “As other countries face cuts to public health and science funding, Canada is well positioned to fill the void. Our researchers, clinicians, and policy thinkers have already contributed significantly to the advancement of lung health. By aligning with this resolution, Canada could amplify its impact and help shape a global framework for respiratory health—one that prioritizes prevention, equity, and climate resilience.” We are thrilled to once again partner with the @lunghealthfoundation on this op-ed, published this week in The Hill Times, urging the federal government to support a landmark @who resolution addressing the global rise in respiratory diseases. The op-ed can be found on the Lung Health Foundation's website. Authors: Jeffrey Beach, President & CEO, Asthma Canada

A recent study published in the Canadian Medical A A recent study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) shows there was a substantial increase in asthma-related ER visits during the first wave of wildfire smoke in early June—an increase that was largely absent during the second episode later that month. While more research is needed to fully understand the difference, the authors suggest that greater public awareness during the first wave, including air quality advisories, prompted people to take protective measures for themselves and their children. This new data reinforces what we've long known: people with asthma are especially vulnerable during wildfire season—but preparedness can save lives. Thank you to Asthma Canada Advocate, Sheila DeVries, for sharing her family’s powerful story of managing asthma during last summer’s wildfires, and to Nicole Ireland of @cdnpress for bringing national attention to this issue and highlighting Asthma Canada’s supports and resources. #Asthma #AsthmaAndWildfires #Wildfires
A huge thanks to Kimberly Couvillon for courageous A huge thanks to Kimberly Couvillon for courageously sharing her daughter Amber’s story on CBC this week. Amber was just 14 when she lost her life to an asthma attack. Tragically, nearly 300 families across Canada still lose a loved one to asthma every year. Stories like Ambers remind us why we must take asthma seriously and push for greater awareness, access to care, and action. The CBC segment also featured Asthma Canada President & CEO, Jeffrey Beach, speaking about Asthma Canada’s supports and our Asthma Awareness Month campaign; #ACTonAsthma. #AsthmaAwarenessMonth #WorldAsthmaDay
Asthma Canada would like to extend our heartfelt t Asthma Canada would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Hasanul and Rumi Prince for bravely sharing their son Rudhro’s story on World Asthma Day at Queen’s Park at our Advocacy Day reception. Rudhro was just 8 years old when he tragically lost his life to an asthma attack in 2018. Since then, the Prince family has become passionate advocates, helping raise awareness about how serious and life-threatening asthma can be. We’re deeply grateful for their strength and their ongoing efforts to make a difference for others. #WorldAsthmaDay #AsthmaAwarenessMonth
