Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccinating adults to combat influenza and pneumococcal disease was a public health priority—especially for chronic respiratory patients at high risk for complications and hospitalization. Our paper examines pre-pandemic vaccination for these patients and explores the importance of education to help meet the 80% national immunization goal laid out by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
