🌟 Awardee Spotlight: Omar Abdelraheem 🌟 We’re excited to introduce Omar, a recipient of our 2025 Graduate Student Research Awards 🎓💙 Omar is an MSc student at Western University in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Cameron. His research builds on a strong foundation in microbiology, immunology, and respiratory science. Research Project: 'Elucidating the development and pathogenicity of dual-positive Th2-Th17 cells' Asthma inflammation is often linked to T-helper cells such as Th2 and Th17. In more severe asthma, a hybrid cell type—Th2-Th17—has been observed and may contribute to worse symptoms. Omar’s research aims to understand how these hybrid cells develop and what features make them harmful. He will study the signals that cause Th2 cells to convert into Th2-Th17 cells and track their characteristics. By uncovering the role of these cells, Omar hopes to identify new biological pathways that could guide the development of targeted treatments for severe asthma. Join us in celebrating Omar and his dedication to advancing asthma research! ✨ #asthma #asthmaResearch #Research

Today is World Chronic Cough Day 2025. This is a Today is World Chronic Cough Day 2025. This is a day for all of us to come together and shine a light on a condition that is often underestimated but deeply affects the lives of millions of people worldwide. Chronic cough is more than just a symptom. It can impact sleep, work, relationships, and overall wellbeing. By raising awareness, we can help others recognise the signs earlier, encourage more conversations with healthcare professionals, and support stronger pathways to care and research. Education and understanding are key to improving outcomes, and your voice helps make that possible. Together, we can show patients and families that they are not alone. Share this post, spread the word in your community, and join the global effort to make chronic cough better understood and better supported.
